Called about 5 times now, asking for payments from someone I am not and have never met.
Caller: DTE Energy
They have been blowing up my cell phone for the past few months. Calling from 8am to 9pm. I live with my family, unsure if we have DTE but why are they calling me?!!!! Very annoying, and they never leave a message!
If they keep calling you, even after you have requested they remove your number, you do have the right to sue them. You can sue them for up to $500 per call after you have asked to have your number removed.

I've recieved numerous calls from 800-477-4747. I don't answer it as I don't know who is calling but they never leave a message. Anyone else experiencing this?
DTE really! If this is DTE calling, they wasted a lot of time coming installing those new RF gas and electric meters. The came through the neighborhood with flyer's and new meters. So tired of people making out like they are working.
Why is DTE coming to read the meter when they just forced people into have those new RF meters installed. You mean to tell me that I am paying for that new meter and someone to still come out and read the new one.
I keep getting calls from these people, and I live in Vermont!!! No DTE for me!
If it's DTE calling from this number 1-800-477-4747 then why doesn't their company name appear on my caller I.D.?! This number has called me three times this morning and it's EVERYDAY. These people need to leave people alone. Yeah, NEVER leaves a message.
file a complaint with the Michigan utility commission on line. DTE 800-477-4747 They call day & night but they don't have a email to take your number off and if you call you will be on the line for 15 to 25 min. If we all file a complaint I think it will help.

I don't even have a DTE bill and I get calls from this number. It's the same automated voice message for someone that is not me and when I call it back it doesn't even ring. Is this really DTE or a scammer? Either way I am sick of receiving calls from this number.
I have received at least 10 calls from this number in the last 2 weeks. like everyone else on here, they never lease a voice message and the caller id does not identify them. I have a friend who doesn't regularly pay his DTE bill and believe me when DTE does call, if he doesn't answer they leave a very clear message that it is DTE calling and request a call back. in accordance with the FTC rules on debt collection, they do not indicate that it is a collection call, but they do indicate the company name. So I would say these calls are not coming from DTE and should be reported to the FTC on their website.
Received a call from this number, no message left. I do have DTE though. Thanks for posting who had called you all.
They keep calling, never leave a message and we live in GA. I've never even heard of DTE Energy until I googled the number.

I called to report my power was out after a severe storm blew through. The automated voice kept me informed about every 2 hours or so to let me know what the status of the power restoration was in my area. They even told me when their work crew had arrived as well as the estimated time that I'd get my power back. I was so glad that I didn't have to keep calling them back, like I did years ago. It was such a comfort to know what was going on.
As for the *Smart* meters, when they installed one outside, next to my house for gas, I asked the guy who I think installed it, how the "meter reading" thing worked. He showed me his wireless laptop and said that he drives around picking up a signal that goes from the meter to his laptop computer. The reason they gave for installing the *Smart* meters is that the readings would be more accurate and the meter readers would no longer have to deal with hostile pets and/or tall grass around the meters. Wait! Wouldn't tall grass around the meters be even more of an issue when you're trying to get a line-of-sight wireless signal from the meter to the laptop sitting in your vehicle? I think that I mentioned that to him and he laughed and said it wouldn't be a problem but I noticed that the first time he tried to read the meter he couldn't get a signal to his laptop (he was surprised). It took a second try. (grin) Then again, nothing that's electronic works the first time, right? (wink)
